Spirit Tree Series: Mother Nut Flows Like Water #1 is the first of a four-part series that embodies elements of collage, painting and drawing. With these separate processes, the works feature the Ancient Egyptian principle, Mother Nut, as being active amongst the trees and lending Life to all, which is a common theme in my work. I worked intuitively with the deep blues found within the handmade papers and imagined the presence of Mother Nut being connected to the natural elements of water and air, which again, correlates to the universe providing ways to cleanse, breathe, and maintain Life. In this particular work, the dual Mother Nut figures represent a moment of seeing myself as a creator and as manifesting Life through this process of internalizing the healing aspects of nature and of making art.
