"Aquatic Gardens Series: Magnolia Pod in Blue" is one of three works that were created during my summer residency with the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, a National Park Services site located in the northeastern area of Washington, D.C. It was here that I was tasked to create an independent routine of painting outdoors and use the Aquatic Gardens as inspiration for a new body of work. Through the observation and exploration of the beautiful landscape found within these gardens, I garnered visual elements that connected to my on-going theme of organic energy, movement, and a sense of spirit.
